Middleburg Senior Portrait Session

When I first started my photography business I thought that I wanted to specialize in high school seniors. I hadn’t really dived into the world of weddings yet and I loved getting to work one on one with the high school girls and plan their sessions! Just like with helping my couples plan their engagement and wedding day photos it was fun to create a shoot that was designed around each girl’s personality and interests. I don’t often get to capture senior portraits anymore, but when I do it always takes me right back to the beginning and those fun sessions in the first year of my business!

A few months ago I got to meet up with Makenna to capture her Middleburg senior portraits! Makenna is actually the younger sister of one of my original senior spokesmodels, Riley! I did her photos back in 2017 and now three years later it was Makenna’s turn to be in front of the camera. Originally we had hoped to start out a nearby horse farm to show off Makenna’s talents as an equestrian during her shoot, but with COVID changing things around so much it ended up not working out so we switched our location to downtown Middleburg instead. There are so many fun backdrops in the downtown area and it isn’t too busy so we barely had to work around anyone else!

After shooting around Middleburg for about an hour we decided to change things up and headed over to the Goodstone Inn and Restaurant. Out of nowhere an unforeseen storm swept through the area so we were racing against the clock to get all of her portraits done. Luckily for us it held off long enough for us to capture everything, but we did end up sprinting back to our cars through a downpour!
