Fall Engagement Session at Patapsco Female Institute in Ellicott City, MD

This fall engagement session at Patapsco Female Institute is one engagement session I’ve been dying to share! 

Last fall, Amber and Kat were referred to me by another photographer friend and I was so excited to meet up with these two to capture their engagement portraits! Their wedding planning had actually only just begun. When they came across their dream venue, Patapsco Female Institute in Ellicott City, MD, they immediately fell in love with the unique outdoor setting and architecture. Unfortunately, they learned that it was closing to the public soon and wouldn’t be hosting weddings anymore. They only had a matter of days to schedule a session if they wanted to have their photos taken there. 

We lucked out through, and they squeezed us onto their calendar for one chilly November afternoon. It happened to be the last “event” the venue hosted before closing down. Despite the freezing temperatures, these two braved the cold and were dressed to the nines. Their stylish outfits stood out perfectly against the ruined structure of the school. We kicked off their session by popping a glass of champagne – the perfect way to calm some nerves and make it feel more like a date night – before we explored the grounds. Halfway through the session, they swapped into some cozier clothes for a more casual look and we took advantage of all the beautiful fall foliage that surrounded us. 

All in all, this engagement session was one of my favorite engagement sessions of 2021! Amber and Kat were so much fun to get to know and spend time with. I absolutely loved the beautiful, rich colors we were able to capture during their session too!
