Wedding at President Lincoln’s Cottage in Washington D.C.

Mary Jo and Murali held their wedding at President Lincoln’s Cottage in Washington D.C. on September 11, 2021. After a whirlwind five months of planning led by their planner, Angelica Laws of Angelica & Co., their wedding day came to life! Prior to their celebration, Mary Jo and Murali held two other ceremonies earlier in the week – one for Mary Jo’s Catholic faith and one for Murali’s Indian culture.

The theme of their wedding day was an elevated garden party. Mary Jo and Murali embraced rich, bold colors to create a vibrant design. I loved the change from the typical neutral color schemes that are so popular in weddings right now – and I’m hoping that color palettes like these are going to be what more couples opt for in the future! A variety of luxurious greens and bright summer jewel tones were woven throughout the day from the bridesmaids dresses and bouquets to the decor under their clear-top tent! There were also many thoughtful odes to their dog, Chance, whose pet portrait appeared on the menu cards and napkins. He even made a celebrity appearance!

While Mary Jo and Murali kept their wedding party small, a huge focus of theirs was to include as many close friends as possible. Their friends joined them for getting ready at The Line Hotel, pre-ceremony portraits, and some even shared readings during their ceremony. It was such a thoughtful way to include everyone!

All in all, it was a gorgeous summer evening celebrating these two and based on the packed dance floor, I know their guests and them would agree!
