Often times in Virginia, the fall foliage is gone in just a matter of weeks. However, we got lucky with Evan and Taylor’s autumn engagement session at Great Falls Park, MD. Not only did the warm red, orange and yellow leaves hold out a bit longer for us, but it was a sunny afternoon, which lit up the fall perfectly!
We started around the old historic houses and canals of the park before making our way a bit closer to the Potomac River. If you know your way around, the park has so many hidden gems that make for a beautiful and romantic setting. My favorite spot is a secluded beach cove. The water is calmer and rocks jut out of the river. It’s perfect for an engagement session!
Evan and Taylor met at UVA and have since been together for three years. While at a family lake house, they got engaged and are currently planning their wedding for next summer. They have a lot of shared hobbies, like rock climbing, cooking and playing board games together. They specifically tied in two of their favorites into their engagement photos. For starters, they love trying different wines, so they brought some wine to share in a couple photos. It was such a cute prop! Their love of wine is actually one of the reasons they picked a winery for their wedding venue. Their Catholic faith is also something they love to share together. They enjoy praying and going to mass so they brought rosaries to include in the session as well.
We ended their session with them swapping into some cozier fall sweaters and made our way out onto Olmsted Island. The sun was just beginning to set and we had the overlook practically to ourselves for the last few shots.
I had a great time getting to know Evan and Taylor during their autumn engagement session at Great Falls Park. Their wedding at Stone Tower Winery in July can’t come soon enough!
