With their wedding coming up in just a few weeks, it seems fitting to share Viviann and Jeremy’s Swannanoa Palace and Ravens Roost Overlook engagement session on the blog!
We started their engagement session at one of my favorite hidden gems in Virginia – Swannanoa Palace. Originally built in 1912, this historical Italianate marble villa sits atop the Blue Ridge Mountains. It has for the most part remained unchanged. The palace is the perfect engagement session backdrop for couples looking for a little extra drama. It has beautiful architecture and classical gardens. Plus, it has so many little vignettes begging to be photographed around every corner. One of my favorite backdrops is the tall tower that looks like Rapunzel herself could be waiting at the top to let her hair down!
As the sun started to dip, Jeremy and Viviann switched into something more casual. Then, we drove down the road to Ravens Roost Overlook. This is one of my favorite overlooks on the Blue Ridge Parkway! Usually, it is swarming with other photo sessions on Saturdays. However, we somehow had the place almost entirely to ourselves. The sunset that evening was gorgeous. It cast the prettiest light over the entire scene. Don’t let the warm glow fool you though! The winds were sweeping through the Blue Ridge mountains. It was actually pretty chilly!
Not only did Viviann and I go to high school together, but we were also part of a huge final capstone project in college. I was so excited she reached out to have me capture her engagement and wedding photos! It was fun to catch up with her. Plus, I loved getting to know Jeremy during their Swannanoa Palace and Ravens Roost Overlook engagement session. I can’t wait for their wedding day in just a few weeks at The Market at Grelen!
