A 48 Fields Wedding in Leesburg, VA

Katy and Erik’s 48 Fields wedding has been a long awaited event! I first started talking with Katy way back in 2018 and shot their engagement session in 2019. Despite the pandemic uncertainty, Katy and Erik stayed optimistic. They were determined to get married on their date of April 3, so they moved the majority of the wedding outside for the safety of the guests. The individual touches Katy and Erik added to their special day made this a modern wedding with a rustic vibe, completely unique to them!

Before the ceremony started, Katy shared a special moment not just with her soon-to-be husband, but with her bridesmaids as well. First looks aren’t just for the bride and groom! It was such a special moment for her to share with her closest ladies.  While Katy and Erik had their first look, they exchanged letters they’d written for each other in a moment of intimacy.

Instead of the usual ceremony spot at 48 Fields, Katy and Erik chose to exchange vows in front of the barn, which served as a perfect rustic backdrop. After the ceremony, they had cocktail hour on the back deck, featuring signature cocktails named after their cats, Uno and Dos. How fun is that?!

Dinner was served in the space that is typically used for the ceremony giving their guests plenty of space to stay safe. The meal ended with cake cutting and a round of the shoe game. After that Katy and Erik opened up the dance floor by introducing their wedding party themselves! The dance floor was packed all night long and the couple made their exit dancing through a tunnel of glow sticks.

Katy and Erik, it’s been such a joy to work with you two over the past three years! Your optimism, upbeat attitudes, and focus on just getting married to each other above all else was so refreshing to see in the middle of all of the year’s uncertainty. Best wishes for all that’s ahead of you two. I can’t wait to see where life takes you two next!
