When I say I’ve literally been waiting for this engagement session for almost a year I’m not exaggerating! It seems like forever ago now, but Katy and I started chatting on Instagram back in November! Over the past few months I’ve loved learning about her and Erik. They first met at JMU (Go Dukes!) and have been together for over 4 years. A few months ago, Erik surprised Katy with a proposal at their home over a movie and glass of wine.
Since one of their favorite things is to try new breweries together it was only fitting that we started their engagement session with a drink! I first met Katy and Erik at Bear Chase Brewing where they enjoyed a beer in their customized pint glasses and got to take in the gorgeous Bluemont views. As the sun started to set we drove up the road to Bear’s Den Overlook. This overlook is a hidden gem in Loudoun! A short hike takes you to a stunning rocky overlook that points straight out west. From here you can enjoy the sunset with an uninhibited view.
I had such an amazing afternoon hanging out with Katy and Erik and I’m so glad they were up for adventuring through the woods to have their portraits taken at a stunning location. They’re so much fun and I can’t wait to see how all their wedding planning progresses!
