There are very few things that will get me out of bed at 4:30am, except for the incredible couples that I work with and D.C. sunrises. While it might sound crazy, I highly recommend everyone brave the early alarms at least once to see the monuments at dawn. There’s nothing like having a space usually swamped with tourists to yourself – and that’s just what we had for Gina and Jake’s engagement session!
A couple weeks back, Gina and Jake woke up early to meet me at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Laura Henderson Makeup even arrived at their place at 4:00am to help Gina get ready! The pair often takes walks around the monuments so it was only fitting we capture their engagement portraits there. Jake even proposed by the Jefferson! We had the most mild weather and got to take portraits at three D.C. monuments: the Lincoln Memorial, the D.C. War Memorial and the Jefferson Memorial.
Gina and Jake are high school sweethearts and have been together for twelve years. We connected through a mutual friend and I’m so excited to be the one capturing their wedding this September at St. Francis Hall. It was so hard to narrow down my favorites from this session so enjoy all the featured portraits on this blog post!
