Rows of blooming lavender at Seven Oaks Farm were the perfect, idyllic backdrop for the lavender wedding inspiration Lauren Harbin of Chancey Charm and I designed last June. What came out of all the planning was a whimsical, sugar-filled shoot meant to inspire brides who love fun, vibrant colors, and creativity when designing their wedding day. Together we worked to create an editorial that was built around soft hues of purple, vintage furnishings and copper accents.
From the early stages of our planning Lauren and I were hooked on the idea of using lavender, something rare in wedding florals and color palettes alike. Once we found Seven Oaks, tucked in the outskirts of Washington D.C. we knew it was meant to be. Our first focus was creating a romantic table setting for our couple and their wedding party. To compliment the soft textures of the lavender field, we paired copper accents and vintage neutral pieces to marry the styles of modern and romantic. The florals adorning the table tied in our purple hues and lush greenery, while the hand-lettered marble place cards added a luxurious touch.
My favorite part of the shoot though, was the sweets table with it’s macaroons and colorful cake donuts. These playful desserts were a fun contrast to the three-tiered wedding cake, decorated with a marble wash and copper leaf. Last, we added a nod to the purple hue with bold signature cocktails and statement mule mugs for two.
It’s been a dream of mine since I started in the industry to get published on Wedding Chicks and so I’m so excited about this editorial and the amazing team that made it happen. Check out the incredible vendors who brought the idea to life in some of my favorite photos from the editorial!
