Janelle & Steven || A Harper’s Ferry Engagement Session

The first fall engagement session of the year is here! Last week I met up with Janelle and Steven for their Harper’s Ferry engagement session. After a short drive out of the state we met up in this historic West Virginia town for their portraits. Janelle had actually scouted out locations on Google maps before their session so luckily we didn’t have to do any wandering up and down the hills. She’d already planned out great spots!

We started out at Harper Ferry’s old church ruins for a few portraits, before heading down the mountain to the river. Even with the beautiful weather, we managed to find a section (mostly) to ourselves. One of my favorite parts about their session was their willingness to do anything for the photo! They ditched their shoes, rolled up pants and waded into the water for a more unique point of view. Their adorable dog Bearah also braved the heat and got to enjoy swimming around while we took photos. She even put up with me yelling ‘Treat!” every time I wanted her to look at the camera.

Not only was Janelle and Steven’s engagement session my first of the fall, but their wedding is going to be one of my first of the spring! I’m looking forward to May and their wedding at Tranquility Farm!
