A Fall Wedding At Sweeney Barn in Manassas, Virginia

Mary-Kate and Jimmy had the most beautiful autumn day last November at Sweeney Barn! These two have been planning their big day for a little less than a year and were troopers with all the uncertainty and changes that COVID-19 brought their way. They had spent lots of time carefully planning their wedding and when it came around were so laidback and relaxed as the moments unfolded. Mary-Kate told me that their biggest focus was just making sure they got to spend quality time with all the people they loved and release the stress from all of 2020’s events!

Wine Lovers’ Wedding

One of my favorite parts of Mary-Kate and Jimmy’s wedding is how they incorporated their shared passion for wine. Throughout their relationship wineries and vineyards have often been tied to sentimental moments for them, so it was only fitting that it was included in their wedding – starting with guests’ arrivals. Their family and friends signed individual wine corks for a shadow box in lieu of a guest book as they entered the ceremony space.  At the reception, they skipped traditional floral arrangements and instead had wine bottle centerpieces. Each bottle was from a different vineyard that they loved, worked at, or shared special memories from along with its individual story!

A Very 2020 Wedding

Many of my weddings in 2020 were impacted by the pandemic and Jimmy and Mary-Kate’s wedding was no exception. However, these two went above and beyond to protect their guests setting out hand sanitizer and color-coded wristbands so guests could clearly share their comfort level with others. On top of that they set an incredible example, embracing masks both during their ceremony and at the reception to keep everyone safe. The dance floor was packed, but everyone was masked up!

Jimmy and Mary-Kate it has been so much fun getting to know you both over the past year. I’m so glad we connected and I was able to capture your special day. I can’t wait to see where life takes you next!
