Atlanta & Charleston Recap

After UVA’s graduation last week Kyle and I headed off for a mini road trip down South to celebrate finally being done with college classes! We choose two cities– Atlanta and Charleston– both places we had never been before for our six day trip. I kept my camera with me for most of our explorations around the city so a few of my favorite photos are below!

Our first stop was Atlanta for two nights were we explored the Georgia Aquarium, The World of Coca-Cola and Centennial Olympic Park. Besides the fact that it was a new city, one of the main reasons we picked Atlanta was because of the Georgia Aquarium. I’ve been fascinated by the ocean since I was young and really wanted to visit to see the whale sharks they have there up close. I probably sat in front of the big tank for at least 30 minutes just watching!

After we headed to the World of Coca-Cola and finished our day walking around the Centennial Olympic Park. Our time in Atlanta was short, but it was definitely a cool city I would love to explore more!

Next we headed to Charleston, SC and stopped at the Old Sheldon Church ruins on the way. It was pouring rain when we arrived, but I still hopped out of the car for a few pictures and to walk around. I’ve seen so many beautiful photos and engagement sessions done here I knew I wanted to see it. The church was originally built in the 1700s and burned down during the Civil War, but the walls still stand. Even in gloomy weather it was beautiful, and I would love to come back at sunset one day to photograph a session!

Finally we spent three nights in Charleston. We loved the laid back atmosphere, visiting Boone Hall, delicious foods and all the sites! We spent a lot of time just walking the city. We explored King Street, Waterfront Park, Rainbow Row and City Market all in one day and even managed to have time to grab some sweets from Sugar Bakery. We spent our last day visiting the Angel Oak tree and soaking up some sun at Folly Beach!
