The weather has been not been able to make up its mind the past few weeks, so I was a little nervous about what it would be like for Kara & Justin’s engagement session. These two are both JMU alumni and were driving back down to Harrisonburg for their session in the rain. Luckily by the time the afternoon had rolled around it was a little warmer, and though it was still gloomy we were free from rain!

Kara and Justin met their sophomore year at James Madison and are still huge JMU fans who travel 2 hours back for the football games. Justin even proposed during JMU’s homecoming weekend, taking Kara out for a nice dinner and a walk to the Quad under the guise of celebrating her birthday.  He proposed in front of the JMU kissing rock and completely surprised her with a beautiful rose gold engagement ring.

Given that these two are such big JMU fans it made perfect sense to kick off their engagement session on the JMU football field. I haven’t been on the football field since my freshman year so it was such a unique experience to shoot their session on the field. We even lucked out and had it all to ourselves! After we wrapped up at the field we headed downtown to incorporate some of the older, historic parts of Harrisonburg, as well as a few colorful murals!

Despite the gloomy weather we managed to incorporate lots of color into their session and I loved getting to know them and talking about the changes in Harrisonburg and around the campus. I can’t wait for their vineyard wedding in July!
